Hymn
#682 UMC All Praise to Thee, My God, This Night (Tallis’ Canon)
All praise to thee, my God, this nightFor all the blessings of the light!Keep me, O keep me, King of Kings
Beneath thine own almighty wings.
Forgive me, Lord, for thy dear Son, The ill that I this day have done, That with the world, myself, and thee, I, ere I sleep, at peace may be.
|
O may my soul on thee reposeAnd with sweet sleep mine eyelids close,Sleep that may me more vigorous make
To serve my God when I awake.
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise God, all creatures here below; Praise God above, ye heavenly host; Praise God, the Son, and Holy Ghost. |
Psalter
Psalm 62:5-12
I sing your praise for steadfast love;
Fulfill your purpose for me. R
For God alone my soul waits in silence,
For my hope is from God,
Who alone is my rock and my salvation,
My fortress; I shall not be shaken.
On God rests my deliverance and my honor;
My mighty rock, my refuge is God.
Trust in God at all times, O people;
Pour out your heart before God who is a refuge for us. R
Those of low estate are but a breath,
Those of high estate are a delusion;
In the balances they go up;
They are together lighter than a breath.
Put no confidence in extortion,
Set no vain hopes on robbery;
If riches increase, set not your heart on them.
Once God has spoken,
Twice have I heard this:
Power belongs to God;
And to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love,
For you repay all according to their work. R

Hear our prayers
Prayer of Thanksgiving – in Unison
As you have made this day, O God,
You also make the night.
Give light for our comfort.
Come upon us with quietness and still our souls,
That we may listen for the whisper of your Spirit,
And be attentive to your nearness in our dreams.
Empower us to rise again in new life to proclaim your praise,
And show Christ to the world. Amen

Lord’s Prayer
Canticle of Simeon
Lord, you have now set your servant free
To go in peace as you have promised;
For these eyes of mine have seen the Savior,
Whom you have prepared for all the world to see:
A Light to enlighten the nations,
And the glory of your people Israel.
Glory to you, O Trinity, most holy and blessed:
One God, now and for ever. Amen
